Leanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and a nationally Board-Certified Music Therapist. She is dedicated to supporting others in their well-being, developing a deeper understanding of themselves, and creating a more fulfilling life.
Clinical Specialties
Leanna offers in-person (Virginia Beach location by September 2025) and online therapy for individuals ages 16 and up. She works with clients seeking assistance with a variety of issues including life transition, stress management, career path exploration, burnout prevention, self-esteem, spirituality, caregiving support (including family members of those with serious mental illness), healthy relationship building/relational stress reduction, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. She also enjoys working with artistic, musical, and creative types.
Counseling Approaches
Leanna practices from a foundation of humanistic therapy combined with techniques from mindfulness, strengths-based, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Music can be utilized in sessions to aid in promoting self-expression, self-awareness, and in accessing inner resources. Relaxation, imagery, and mindfulness practices can also be incorporated.

Clinical & Professional Experience
Leanna brings 10 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings and levels of care including inpatient psychiatric, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, private practice, early childhood settings, long-term care, and hospice care. After college, and prior to her therapy career, she worked in digital marketing and journalism.
Educational Background
Leanna earned a Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts and Design with a minor in Music from James Madison University. She completed her Master’s degree in Music Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University. She also holds a 200-hour yoga certification. She continues to pursue ongoing training and education in music therapy and counseling.

- Leanna enjoys hiking, yoga/meditation, dancing, going to the beach, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her family and friends.
- She also loves to sing, plays piano, guitar, harp, and some hand percussion, and enjoys performing throughout the area.
- Her favorite color is pink.
- Some of her favorite musical artists include Sara Bareilles, Beyonce, and Adele. She also enjoys music of the big band/swing era and music for relaxation.
