She also received her B.S. in Psychology from Old Dominion University and her A.A.S. in General Studies is from Tidewater Community College. Her passion for counseling comes from being in the Military and wanting to provide a comfortable and safe place for self-discovery and self-expression to help others overcome adversity and find fulfilment.

Clinical Focus Areas and Counseling Approach

Brittany provides both online and in-person counseling at Free Spirit with individuals aged 6 and up, along with families and couples. She works with clients seeking support for: holistic health and wellness lifestyle building, life adjustments, stress reduction, self-esteem, boundaries, anxiety, depression/post-partum depression, grief/loss, trauma, PTSD, ODD, ADD/ADHD, and more. She works from a foundation of person-centered therapy, combined with elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and humanistic therapy and integrative/holistic therapy.

Professional Philosophy

In her own words, “Everyone needs a safe place and someone to talk to every now and then. I believe that counseling can be that safe place to help you invest time in yourself and build yourself up. Being able to find someone you can connect with, open up to, and feel comfortable with creates the groundwork for a successful counseling experience. I am passionate about helping each of my clients achieve their goals and the quality of life they are reaching for.”

Professional Experience

Brittany has spent 16 years in the VA Army National Guard and is currently still serving in the Guard as a Sergeant First Class. Working in the military has increased the passion she has to remove barriers to mental health care. Throughout her time in the military, she has worked many community events including: COVID missions, Civilian Emergency Response Programs, Sexual Harassment and Prevention victims advocacy, and also served as an Equal Opportunities representative assisting soldiers and their families.
