Dee is completing her Practicum in Counseling in pursuit of her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. She also received her B.A. in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. She has a passion for helping people to activate their strengths and to experience self-discovery and personal growth.
Clinical Focus Areas
Dee provides in person (Yorktown location) and online counseling at Free Spirit for individuals (ages 11 & up), couples, and families. She works with clients seeking assistance with: life transitions, college & young adult life, military community life, career exploration, motivation building, healthy lifestyle crafting, self-esteem building, LGBTQIA+ support, boundaries, healthy relationship communication skills, relationship/family issues, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma.
Counseling Approach
Dee tailors her counseling approach from a base of person-centered therapy, combined with elements of Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychotherapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). For relational and family therapy, she combines elements of Structural and Strategic Systems therapy, as well as techniques from The Gottman Institute for relational/marital therapy.

Professional Experience
Dee brings valuable experience working in community mental health care in a psychosocial day program for adults with co-occurring mental health conditions. She has also worked with teens in intensive in-home counseling, personalized care, and mentoring. From her prior experience in various service fields, she brings a focus on warmth, creating comfort for diverse individuals, and high-level customer service into her counseling work today.
