Megan is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC).  Her love of the field is driven by a special passion for making therapy more accessible and user-friendly for everyone in today’s busy world.

Clinical Focus Areas

Megan works exclusively online with individuals aged 17 and up, along with families and couples. She supports clients seeking assistance with career counseling, life transitions, co-occurring disorders, stress management, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, healthy relationship building, family related concerns, and support for everyone in the military life community.

Counseling Approaches

Megan’s foundational approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Reality Therapy, helping clients make transformative shifts and take inspired action in their lives.   She also layers in a Person-Centered therapy perspectives and techniques in her sessions. In addition, she can provide Christian Counseling therapy, upon request.

Educational Background

Megan earned a Masters of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a B.S in Psychology from Old Dominion University. She continues her ongoing professional training under direct clinical supervision from Free Spirit owner and Clinical Director, Dr. Jill Nardin, PhD, LPC.

Professional Experience

Megan brings valuable experience with a wide variety of people seeking clinical support for grief/loss, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, traumatic experiences, and methadone maintenance.  Her over four years experience includes serving in a diverse range of settings including private practice, outpatient, hospital, and substance abuse treatment center settings.  This broad range of experience fuels her desire and gives her the tools to serve a great deal of people across the lifespan.

  • Megan is from Appomattox, Virginia where the Civil War ended.
  • She loves spending time with her Airedale Nala and Goldendoodle Simba.
  • She also enjoys reading and going on mission trips, plus completing puzzles and hiking with her partner in her spare time.
