Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia.  She enjoys helping others grow to love themselves and to find joy in their lives.  Seeing the world through a positive lens, she believes everyone has strengths and wants to help clients recognize and embrace them.

Clinical Focus Areas

Stephanie works in person (Yorktown location) and online with individuals (ages 9 and up) and families.  She supports clients seeking assistance with school success, social skills, life transitions, military life, teen/young adult life, confidence building, healthy relationship building, communication skills, autism spectrum support, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma. Stephanie is also an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Counseling Approaches

Stephanie uses a variety of approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed therapy.  On request, she can also collaborate with the school system or other providers.

Professional Experience

Stephanie has extensive experience in counseling and school psychology.  She has worked in community mental health settings in emergency services, child and family counseling, and substance abuse counseling.  Working in the public schools as a school psychologist for over 20 years, Stephanie has developed a particular passion for working with adolescents.

Educational Background

Stephanie has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and two  Ed.S. degrees (60 credit hours each) in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology from James Madison University.

  • Stephanie is passionate about her family (including my husband and three sons) and her faith is a huge part of her life.
  • She loves being active and enjoys playing with her pets, walking, biking, and kayaking.
  • She also enjoys reading and cooking in her spare time.
  • Her favorite color is teal, but she loves most blues as well.
  • Her favorite music artists are Alison Kraus and Chris Stapleton.
